06 Jul Choosing the right printmaker for fine art photography – Jason Florio, tells us why Pascal Prince, who trained at Richard Avedon’s studio, does it for him
Printing fine art photography prints
‘Finding a printer who can translate or even transcend your photographic vision and put it on to paper is, for me, an essential part of my work process. I met Pascal when we were both in the early days of our careers, and when he went from focusing on making photographs to printing, he became the person I most trusted to sensitively take my work and push gently beyond anything I could have envisioned.
Pascal comes from a traditional printing background, and brings this knowledge and craft with him into the digital realm, a care and patience found in his thousands of hours in the darkroom.’ Jason Florio
Award-winning photographer, Florio, has had a long-standing relationship, since 1996, with Pascal Prince, Union Square, NYC – both professionally and as good friends, and we use his exemplary services for all of Florio’s prints – whether it be for private clients, interior designers, or exhibitions.

‘I have been in the business of photography since 1988. After a few months in New York City I was offered a job as a spotter retoucher for the Richard Avedon studio. There I learned everything about high-end treatment of images, from processing negatives to B&W printing and assisting on set as well. In 1996 I started my own business as a color printer. I became fascinated by color photography after I met Nick Waplington at the Avedon studio in 1994…’ Pascal Prince – read more on his website
