The series is my attempt to capture an important part of the history of the tiny Mediterranean island of Malta, much of which is being demolished in the name of ‘development’. The island has an abundance of beautifully decaying, colourful, vintage (and retro) doors, facades, and storefronts – vestiges of the island’s rich and varied history. Many of these unique, and often historical, buildings are now vying for their right to be there, next to the ever-increasing, much-favored it seems, modern, high-rise structures of glass and concrete.
All images are available as limited edition photography prints. Please see below for prices, sizes, editions. And, visit the gallery ‘Print Orders‘ page for all the relevant information, including shipping and our returns policy.
I hope that you enjoy looking at #DisappearingMalta as much as I enjoy photographing them. This is a just a small selection of images from the series. Therefore, please check out @doors_helenjonesflorio Instagram page, where you can see much more.
